A 59-year-old man was killed when the vehicle he was in was struck by another vehicle in Northridge, whose driver fled the scene on foot, authorities said Sunday.
A vehicle was going westbound on Roscoe Boulevard about 8:50 a.m. Saturday when it struck another vehicle at Vanalden Avenue, said Officer Rosario Cervantes of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.
Raul Gutierrez of Northridge was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
The motorist in the westbound vehicle fled the scene on foot, Cervantes said.
Paramedics dispatched to the scene at 8:49 a.m. transported no one to any area hospitals, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Police had no description of the hit-and-run motorist or the person’s vehicle.
