A 48-year-old man was arrested for allegedly being in possession of 28 bags of cocaine a few hours after getting out of county jail, Glendale police reported Friday.

Sheriff’s records show Panagiotis Godosis released about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after serving nearly five months behind bars for an unspecified offense.

About four hours later, Godosis and 47-year-old John Godosis, of Culver City, were in a car that was pulled over by Glendale police near Central Avenue and Wilson Avenue, according to Sgt. Christian Hauptmann of the Glendale Police Department.

Inside the vehicle, officers found a digital scale and “28 individually packaged baggies of suspected cocaine” and arrested the two on suspicion of transportation and possession of illegal drugs for sale, according to Hauptmann.

John Godosis, who was additionally booked on suspicion of identity theft, was found to be in possession of more than $4,000 in cash, several access cards belonging to other people and a receipt that showed he used one of the cards at a grocery store earlier that day, Hauptmann alleged.

Both were released from custody due to California’s emergency rule to set bail at zero for most misdemeanor and lower-level felonies in an attempt to limit the spread of COVID-19 in jails statewide.
