The Coroner’s Office Saturday released the name of a 35-year-old man who was killed in an apparent gang-related shooting in the southwest Los Angeles area.
The victim was identified as Michael Smith, of Los Angeles, according to the coroner’s office.
The shooting occurred about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday at 67th Street and Western Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Smith died at an area hospital, police said.
No description was available of a suspect or suspects, and police did not elaborate on the gang aspect. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call 877-LAPD-247 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
