One robbery suspect was in custody Saturday after the alleged victim followed a group multiple suspects in a vehicle from East Hollywood to a freeway off-ramp in Van Nuys where the suspects crashed and fled, authorities said.
The robbery was reported at 10:10 a.m. at Normandie and Melrose avenues in East Hollywood, according to Officer J. Chaves of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.
The victim followed the suspects despite having been advised by police not to, Chaves said.
The suspects crashed their vehicle on the off-ramp from the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway at Victory Boulevard and ran from the scene, he said.
One suspect was quickly taken into custody while authorities searched for the second, Chaves said.
The California Highway Patrol issued a Sigalert shutting down the off-ramp at 11:10 a.m. and canceled it about 1 p.m.
