A motorist who led Orange County sheriff’s deputies on a chase following an attempted traffic stop in Yorba Linda was arrested Tuesday after a standoff, authorities said.
The incident began at about 2:30 a.m., when deputies tried to stop the man for traffic violations, including “possible DUI,” but he kept going and the chase led into Los Angeles County to the city of Diamond Bar, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department reported.
“During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle intentionally collided with a patrol unit, thankfully not injuring the deputy,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement.
The suspect stopped his vehicle near Diamond Bar Boulevard and Pathfinder Road, and a standoff ensued until about 7 a.m., when he surrendered, the sheriff’s department reported. His name was not immediately released.
