A man was killed in Santa Monica Saturday when he apparently jumped off the Pacific Coast Highway-Arizona Avenue pedestrian bridge and was dragged a couple hundred feet down PCH by a vehicle.
Police received a call about 4:40 a.m. of a person down in the 1500 block of Pacific Coast Highway just north of the McClure Tunnel, Santa Monica Police Lt. Rudy Flores said.
“They located a male deceased in the northbound lanes (of Pacific Coast Highway),” Flores said. “Based upon the evidence at the scene, the subject may have jumped off the bridge, was struck by a vehicle and drug a couple of hundred feet (down Pacific Coast Highway).”
The incident prompted the California Highway Patrol to issue a Sigalert at about 8 a.m., closing all westbound lanes of the Santa Monica (10) Freeway at Fourth Street. It was canceled shortly before 9:30 a.m.
