A bicyclist was killed Tuesday in Huntington Beach, and the motorist allegedly involved in the death was arrested after leaving the scene, police said.
Joe Valdivia, 46, of Huntington Beach was booked on suspicion of a hit-and-run collision causing death, Huntington Beach Police Officer Angela Bennett said.
The crash was reported about 12:25 a.m. at Beach Boulevard and Sunrise Drive.
“Upon the arrival of officers, it was found the vehicle had fled the scene and a male bicyclist was found in the roadway,” a police statement said.
Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
“The involved vehicle was later located and the driver contacted, and subsequently arrested for fleeing the collision,” police said.
