A 45-year-old man was arrested for allegedly pointing a laser into an officer’s eye in downtown Los Angeles, police said Friday.
The officer was near 2nd Street and San Pedro when he felt a burning sensation in his eye about 8:40 a.m. Thursday, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
He suspected it was caused by a laser pointer, and located Douglas Meyer, who allegedly had a laser with him on the balcony of a nearby building, according to police.
Meyer was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, the LAPD said.
The officer claimed to experience nausea, vomiting, an intense headache and blurred vision. He received initial treatment but the LAPD says he may need further treatment from a specialist.
The type of laser allegedly used was not released.
