A pedestrian in his 40s died after being struck by a pickup truck on the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said Friday morning.
Officers responded to a call of a pedestrian being struck by multiple vehicles near the collector road, south of Sixth Street and found the man laying in the road, between the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes, according to Officer B. Watts of the California Highway Patrol.
“Ultimately, the pedestrian was struck by a 2016 Toyota Tundra and succumbed to his injuries,” Watts said.
It was unknown if the pedestrian was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time he was struck. The driver of the Toyota was not under the influence, Watts said.
The name of the victim was not disclosed and the driver of the Toyota was not arrested.
The collector road was closed until 2:30 a.m.
