A 41-year-old transient was charged Tuesday with the rape and kidnap of a woman in Anaheim last week.
Isileli Fakalata Eteaki was charged with rape and kidnapping to commit rape, both felonies. He was on probation for an unspecified crime at the time, according to court records.
Police were called at 8 p.m. Friday to Brookhurst Street and Ball Road to respond to a report of two transients having sex in public, Anaheim police Sgt. Shane Carringer said.
“Officers responded quickly and they hear a woman screaming for help,” Carringer said. “They located the victim and interrupted the rape.”
The woman, who lives in the area, was walking home when she was attacked, Carringer said.
Eteaki’s arraignment was rescheduled for Aug. 14 in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana.
