A Santa Ana police officer was extricated from a vehicle and hospitalized after being struck head-on by a fleeing parolee suspect.
Police attempted to stop Simon Bradley Sulusi of Long Beach in the 300 block of North Harbor Boulevard about 10:25 p.m. Thursday, but he refused to pull over, prompting the pursuit, said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
As the chase continued east on McFadden Avenue, Sulusi ran a red light and slammed into a car northbound on Euclid Avenue, then his vehicle hit a pursuing officer’s patrol car, which had been westbound on McFadden approaching Euclid.
Sulusi was arrested on suspicion of felony evading, felony DUI and felon in possession of a gun and remains in custody at a local hospital, he said.
Both Sulusi and the officer were expected to survive, Bertagna said.
