A man was arrested for allegedly killing another man during an altercation in Perris, sheriff’s officials said Saturday.
Just before 7:15 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to a battery call involving two men in the 2000 block of Mount Verdugo Lane, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies found Manuel Marroquin, 37, injured at the scene.
Marroquin became unresponsive while being interviewed by deputies and was eventually pronounced dead, despite paramedics attempting life-saving measures, said Sgt. Richard Carroll.
Claudio Perez was arrested that same night in connection with the death.
He was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility on suspicion of murder, where he remained behind bars in lieu of $1 million bail, officials said.
