A 21-year-old man was stabbed twice in the chest Saturday while trying to stop two other men from beating his cousin in the Vermont Square area of Los Angeles.
It happened about 4:20 p.m. at 47th Street and Budlong Avenue, said Sgt. Scott Blackman of the Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Street Station.
The victim pointed out one of the suspects to arriving officers as he ran away, Blackman said. Officers caught and arrested him. Another man got away. Both were in their 20’s, the sergeant said.
Paramedics took the wounded man to a hospital, where his condition was unavailable, Blackman said.
The initial beating was possibly gang related, he said.
