A peaceful protest at Beverly Gardens Park in Beverly Hills Saturday was temporarily moved away from a suspicious package while police investigated it.

At 3:29 p.m., Beverly Hills police urged people to avoid Santa Monica Boulevard between Rodeo and Crescent drives while they investigated a “suspicious package,” according to Lt. R. Evans.

The bomb squad determined the area was safe at about 4:30 p.m. and it was reopened to traffic and protesters, he said. The exact nature of the package was not available.
