Police arrested two boys on suspicion of attempted carjacking and armed robbery in Culver City, authorities announced Sunday.
The about 4:10 p.m. crimes happened Saturday in the Pier One Imports parking lot at 11140 Jefferson Blvd., Culver City police said.
According to police, the victim was putting items into his car when he was approached by the boys, whose ages were not disclosed. One allegedly pointed a handgun at his head and demanded his car keys. After telling them he didn’t have them, they demanded his credit card, which he handed over, and they fled.
Responding officers were notified that the credit card had been used at the Macy’s at the Westfield Culver City mall, police said. The officers went to that area and saw two boys walking in the parking lot, matching the description given by the victim. When they saw the officers, one allegedly tossed a loaded gun beside a parked vehicle. They were then taken into custody.
The victim positively identified them, police said. Officers also found the man’s credit card on one of them.
Police said they were booked on attempted carjacking and armed robbery charges, and their names were withheld because of their age.
