A patron of a Riverside pub was shot to death following an argument with a man who was booted out of the establishment and returned to kill the victim, authorities said Monday.
The attack happened about 10:15 p.m. Sunday at Duke’s Bar & Grill, near the intersection of Blaine Street and Iowa Avenue, according to the Riverside Police Department.
The alleged shooter, whose identity was unconfirmed, was at large Monday.
Riverside police Officer Ryan Railsback said that the victim, identified only as a Riverside man, got into a verbal altercation that culminated in security guards escorting the suspect away from the property.
“Within a few minutes, the suspect returned to the rear outdoor patio and shot the victim several times,” Railsback said.
He said that the shooter immediately fled the area.
Riverside Fire Department paramedics reached the location moments later and attempted to resuscitate the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Railsback.
No description of the gunman was provided, nor were any details regarding whether the two men knew one another, or what sparked the argument.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the RPD Robbery-Homicide Division at 951-353-7135.
