A 49-year-old convicted felon who allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend multiple times in Eastvale last month remains at large, and investigators Wednesday sought the public’s help to find him.
Malik Daron Minnix of Eastvale is charged with attempted murder, assault with a firearm, spousal abuse, being a felon in possession of a gun, violating a domestic violence restraining order and sentence-enhancing gun and great bodily injury allegations stemming from the alleged Aug. 15 attack.
Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Gutierrez alleged that Minnix confronted his former partner about 10 that morning at a residence in the 6400 block of Peridot Court, near Osprey Street, and opened fire on her with a handgun.
Gutierrez said the victim, identified in court documents only as “D.S.,” suffered several wounds and was taken to a hospital, where she underwent surgery. She is still recovering.
Deputies searched for Minnix, but he fled the area and has not been seen since, according to the sergeant. An arrest warrant was issued on Aug. 20.
Court records show the defendant has prior convictions for assault with a deadly weapon, domestic abuse and violating a criminal protective order.
Anyone with information regarding Minnix’s whereabout was asked to contact the sheriff’s Jurupa Valley station at 951-955-2600.
