The California Alcoholic Beverage Control awarded Riverside’s Police Department $58,262 in grant funding to fight alcohol-related crimes, officials said Saturday.
The money will go toward cracking down on alcohol sales to minors, illegal solicitations of alcohol, public intoxication and to help target problem establishments, police said.
“This grant will help our department improve safety within our neighborhoods,” Sgt. Chad Collopy said. “They not only provide us additional resources in our enforcement efforts, but will also help us better educate the businesses who sell and serve alcohol and their obligations to keep their patrons responsible when drinking.”
Since 1995, the grant program through ABC’s Alcohol Policing Partnership Program has distributed over $20 million to local law enforcement agencies, according to officials.
