A 31-year-old man died Sunday morning when he crashed a speeding pickup into the back of a stopped SUV at a La Habra stoplight.
Joshua Scearce was a La Habra resident, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.
The crash was reported at 2:45 a.m. at Lambert Road and Harbor Boulevard, said Cpl. Billy Phu of the Fullerton Police Department, which is investigating the crash.
A white Toyota 4Runner was stopped at a red light in a northbound lane of Harbor when the driver of a speeding black Toyota Tacoma pickup rear-ended his SUV, Phu said.
Scearce was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
The driver of the 4Runner suffered minor injuries and remained at the scene to assist investigators, Phu said.
Police do not suspect alcohol as a factor in the crash but do believe speed was an issue, he said.
The investigation was ongoing and anyone with information was asked to call Fullerton police Investigator C. Keen at 714-738-6812.
