A man who was crossing Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach in an unmarked crosswalk was struck and killed by a driver who remained at the scene, police said Sunday.
The crash took place around 5:25 p.m. Saturday at PCH and Park Avenue, said Lt. Bob Titus of the Long Beach Police Department.
A 2019 Kia driven by a 66-year-old Long Beach resident was going eastbound on PCH when it hit the man, police said. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities, Titus continued.
Paramedics determined the victim was dead at the scene, Titus said. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Neither distracted nor impaired driving were factors in the crash, police said.
Anyone with information on the crash was asked to call LBPD Detectives Kelsey Myers or Kevin Matter at 562-570-7355. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
