Felony charges were filed Monday against a 25-year-old Malibu man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her 60s in Tustin.
Quin Kalis Sheridan, who’s being held without bail, is charged with kidnapping to commit a sex offense, attempted forcible rape and assault with the intent to commit a sex offense. His arraignment in the jail courtroom of Santa Ana was rescheduled to Dec. 28.
Officers were called at 9:37 a.m. Thursday to Robinson Drive, where Sheridan allegedly forced the woman to the ground and attempted to pull her pants off. The victim struggled, and though the suspect put his hand over her mouth, she managed to scream for help, police said.
A witness dashed over to help the woman, shoving the suspect off of her, prompting him to run away, police said.
Sheridan was found nearby, hiding in a restroom, and was taken into custody without incident, police said.
