A dirt bike rider was injured during a crash at an Anza racetrack Wednesday, requiring him to be airlifted to an inland trauma center for treatment.
The accident was reported about 12:50 p.m. at Cahuilla Creek Motocross in the 50000 block of Highway 371, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The man, whose identity was not released, was making practice runs on the track, which features hills, dirt jumps and numerous curves, when he apparently overturned.
The victim was knocked unconscious, and county fire paramedics were called, officials said.
A Mercy Air ambulance arrived about 1:35 p.m. and airlifted the rider to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar for treatment of moderate injuries, according to reports from the scene.
The racetrack remained open.
