One driver was killed in a two car crash in El Monte Sunday, and the other driver — who is suspected of driving a truck while intoxicated — was rushed to an area hospital.

Police did not disclose the extent of the truck driver’s injuries, nor did they say whether the driver was arrested.

The crash occurred at about 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of Peck and Lower Azusa roads, El Monte Police Chief David Reynoso said.

The driver of the other car was pronounced dead at the scene, Reynoso said. The investigation is active and on-going. Both motorists were the lone occupants in their vehicles.

The El Monte Police Department’s Traffic Division urged anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at 626-580-2140.
