A pickup truck driver suspected in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Irwindale was arrested Wednesday.
Javier Prado, 31, was taken into custody at a residence in Azusa, where officers found the light grey 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor involved in the crash, according to the Irwindale Police Department.
Prado, of Ontario, is accused of striking a pedestrian Tuesday on Irwindale Avenue at the Foothill (210) Freeway. Police were called to the scene about 5:30 a.m., where they found the victim unresponsive “with significant traumatic injuries,” police said.
The man, whose name has not been publicly released, was taken to a hospital, where he died.
“Based on witness statements and evidence found at the scene, it was evident the victim had been struck by a vehicle going northbound on Irwindale Avenue, which fled the scene after the collision,” police said.
Officers identified Prado and his vehicle through an investigation, and he was booked into the West Covina City Jail about 10:20 a.m. on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run charges, police said. He has since been released, jail records show.
