A 29-year-old woman was killed Thursday in Long Beach when her vehicle struck a raised planter box, then multiple signs and a utility pole after she may have suffered a medical emergency while driving.
Long Beach Police Department officers were called about 6:20 a.m. to the area of Studebaker Road and Spring Street, where they found a Dodge Challenger overturned and the woman lying in the street, police said.
Police said they believe Kylee Sooter was driving her Challenger north on Studebaker Road when she “may have experienced a medical emergency, causing her to lose control of her vehicle and accelerate at a high rate of speed.”
The car hit the planter box and became airborne, then struck multiple signs and a utility pole before landing upside down on the street. Sooter, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle, police said.
She died at the scene.
