A 36-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in Claremont on suspicion of possessing child pornography.
Michael Madson was taken into custody Tuesday following an investigation that began when police received a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that someone had downloaded child pornography in Claremont, according to Claremont Police Department Lt. Karlan Bennett.
The ICAC Task Force, made up of 61 regional task forces with members from thousands of law enforcement departments and prosecutorial offices across the nation, helps investigate and prosecute online child victimization.
Through a search warrant, authorities identified a residence in the 600 block of West San Jose Avenue, where a second search warrant was served with the help of Los Angeles Police Department detectives who are part of the ICAC Task Force, Bennett said.
Authorities identified Madson as the suspect and “determined that he was in possession of child pornography,” Bennett said.
Madson is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
