A tow truck driver who fled the country was behind bars Thursday on suspicion of shooting a man and a 13-year-old girl in Santa Ana in January.
Jesus Angel Lopez, 27, of Santa Ana, was arrested Wednesday in Tijuana, Mexico, and booked on suspicion of attempted murder, according to police. He was being held on $1 million bail.
Lopez, a documented gang member, is accused of shooting the two victims just after 1 a.m. Jan. 16 in the 900 block of West Bishop Street, police said.
The victims, who sustained bullet wounds to their legs, were taken to area hospitals for wounds not considered life-threatening, police said.
Lopez dumped the tow truck he was driving and police found it, police said.
A warrant was issued for Lopez on Jan. 19, but he fled the country and was caught in Tijuana on Wednesday, police said.
