A tree fire spread to a home in Riverside Saturday, critically injuring a person and displacing three people.
The fire was reported just before 3 p.m. in the 4800 block of Montgomery Street, according to the Riverside City Fire Department.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found that a palm tree fire had spread to the eve of an adjacent home, said Battalion Chief Craig Kodat.
The fire was quickly put out, limiting the damage to the home, he said.
A Riverside police officer who arrived at the scene before firefighters rescued one person, who was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
“This patient’s symptoms were only mildly related to the fire,” said Battalion Chief Scott Wilson. Those symptoms were not immediately identified.
Damage to the $350,000 home was estimated at $30,000, Wilson said.
The American Red Cross was requested to assist three adults who were displaced by the fire.
