A man suspected of assault was arrested Wednesday in connection with a Pasadena traffic collision that resulted in the death of a 49-year-old woman.
Anthony Marcus Houston, 36, was arrested in Ontario on charges of homicide and reckless driving, according to the Pasadena Police Department.
The charges against Houston stem from a fatal crash that occurred at the intersection of Fair Oaks Avenue and Glenarm Street on Dec. 8. Houston was allegedly driving southbound at an excessive speed on Fair Oaks Avenue when he struck a Kia Optima that was traveling westbound on Glenarm Street, police said.
The driver of the Kia, Jaunita Johnson, died at the scene and three passengers who were in the Kia were seriously injured and taken to a hospital, police said.
Houston sustained moderate injuries that required medical treatment, but he was not arrested at the time of the crash.
Personnel with the PPD Major Accident Investigation Team conducted an analysis of the collision and presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney Office on Feb. 6. Homicide and reckless driving charges were filed against Houston and a $3 million warrant was issued for his arrest.
Houston is also allegedly responsible for an assault reported on March 6. Police responded to the 300 block of North Raymond Avenue and discovered two adults who were physically assaulted and said they had their lives threatened by a suspect they identified as Houston, police said.
Houston was booked in the Pasadena City Jail.
