A man suspected of stealing a car in Beverly Hills was taken into custody Monday after a more than three-hour standoff that brought a SWAT team to the scene.

The man allegedly stole a car in Beverly Hills, prompting police to pursue him, the Los Angeles Times reported. The pursuit ended at about 5 p.m. when the car the man was driving collided with another car at Wilshire Boulevard and Doheny Drive.

Three people in the other car sustained minor injuries and were taken to a hospital, CBS2 reported.

The man remained in the car and refused commands from police to exit. SWAT units arrived at the scene with at least one armored vehicle in an attempt to persuade the man to surrender, according to The Times.

The man was taken into custody at about 8:30 p.m. No further details were released

Wilshire Boulevard and Doheny Drive were closed in the area of the standoff, forcing drivers to find alternate routes.
