A 23-year-old man pleaded guilty Friday and was immediately sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting a girlfriend multiple times in the Huntington Beach area.
Jefferson Dejesus Reyes pleaded guilty to three counts of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant and a count of false imprisonment. As part of his plea deal, single felony counts each of sexual penetration by a foreign object and force, assault with force likely to produce great bodily, criminal threats and kidnapping were dropped.
Reyes was given credit for 1,096 days in custody so he is expected to be released from jail on Friday.
Reyes assaulted the girlfriend on Feb. 6, 2019, April 23, 2019, and Oct. 9, 2019.
Orange County Superior Court Judge Cheri Pham ordered the defendant to participate in a batterers’ treatment program and to perform eight hours of community service.
