A reckless driver eluded California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles Police Department officers on a chase from Baldwin Park to Hollywood Friday.
CHP units attempted to stop the driver of a blue Honda sedan about 12:30 p.m. on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Baldwin Park for driving solo in the carpool lane and crossing the double-yellow line, a CHP spokesperson said. The driver failed to stop and CHP units engaged the car in a pursuit.
The driver traveled westbound on the San Bernardino Freeway. CHP units attempted a PIT maneuver but the driver was able to regain control and continued on.
The driver also traveled on streets and freeways near Dodger Stadium and on the northbound Hollywood (101) Freeway in Hollywood, KTLA reported.
The driver eventually exited the Hollywood freeway in Hollywood and drove on Santa Monica Boulevard and La Brea Avenue. The CHP handed the chase off to the LAPD at about 1:10 p.m. when the driver was on Lillian Way, just south of Sunset Boulevard, near Vine Street, a CHP spokesperson said
The LAPD ultimately decided to terminate the pursuit, said Officer Tony Im of the Media Relations Division. The LAPD will file a report of the crime using the car’s license plate number.
KTLA5 said the car had not been reported as stolen, meaning authorities would be able to identify and locate the owner.
