A 68-year-old woman diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease who was the subject of a Silver Alert was found Thursday.

Maria Johnson had last been seen at about 2 p.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of Pico Street in San Fernando, according to San Fernando Police Department Lt. Irwin Rosenberg.

Johnson’s family reported to the San Fernando Police Department around 3 p.m. that she was missing, Rosenberg said. The California Highway Patrol issued a Silver Alert for Johnson on behalf of the San Fernando Police Department.

The CHP announced at about 10 p.m. that Johnson had been found. No further details were released.

The Silver Alert program was established to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearance of elderly, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired individuals, according to the CHP.
