A felon living in a recreational vehicle in the Santa Ana river bottom in Jurupa Valley was arrested for allegedly possessing a cache of weapons, illegal drugs and thousands of dollars in cash, sheriff’s officials said Saturday.
JD DeHaven, 49, of Jurupa Valley was taken into custody at 6:30 p.m. Friday when deputies served a search warrant at his RV near Holly and Wilson streets, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
“Deputies located two AR-15 rifles, one high capacity AR-15 magazine, approximately 5.5 oz of methamphetamine, 580 rounds of live 223 Cal. ammunition, three gun silencers, $10,752 U.S. currency and additional items indicative with possession for sales of narcotics,” Sgt. Raul Armendariz said.
Deputies had been conducting saturation patrols in the area after multiple quality-of-life complaints from nearby residents related to gunshots, trespassing and vandalism.
DeHaven was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of various gun and drug-related crimes.
He remained jailed in lieu of $50,000.
