A fire that tore through a Riverside house Monday injured the resident and significantly damaged the property.
The blaze was reported at 9:50 a.m. at 9225 Cypress Ave. near Noble Street, according to the Riverside Fire Department.
Battalion Chief Mike Allen said four engine crews and a truck company — numbering nearly two dozen personnel — were sent to the location and encountered flames raging inside the single-story home.
The sole occupant, whose identity was not released, was helped out of the residence before being overwhelmed by the smoke and flames.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries were not immediately known, according to Allen.
He said the fire was knocked down within a half hour.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
