Firefighters knocked down a brush fire Sunday that scorched an estimated half-acre inside the Hansen Dam recreation center in Lake View Terrace.

The brusher which started near 11658 W. Foothill Blvd. was reported at 4:26 p.m., according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.

The department dispatched 36 firefighters to the scene and knocked down the flames in less that 25 minutes, Prange said.

No buildings were burned and no victims were reported.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
