A 21-year-old man pleaded guilty Monday and was immediately sentenced to nine years in prison for a gang-related stabbing of a transient in an Anaheim alley in April.
Anthony Angel Cantu pleaded guilty to attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and participating in gang activity, all felonies. As part of his plea deal, sentencing enhancements for gang activity were stricken.
Co-defendant Ryan Curtis, 38, is facing charges in connection with the April 9 attack, according to Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Jake Gallacher.
Curtis is charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, participating in gang activity, all felonies, and two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Curtis is also facing sentencing enhancements for attempted premeditated murder, gang activity, inflicting great bodily injury, and personal use of a deadly weapon.
The victim said he was sleeping in an alley in the 2900 block of West Lincoln Avenue, near Beach Boulevard, when two men stabbed him multiple times about 3:20 a.m., Gallacher said.
The victim was taken to an area hospital in serious condition, Gallacher said.
