Three men are behind bars Wednesday for the alleged 2019 murder of a Moreno Valley man.

Maurice Williamson, 31, Davonte Rowe, 24, and Daron Hooks, 20, of Riverside are suspected of murdering Jamon Hampton, 26, of Moreno Valley and the attempted murder of a minor, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded to a shots fired call on Aug. 31, 2019, at about 11:30 p.m. at an apartment complex located at 12080 Pigeon Pass Road in Moreno Valley. They located two male victims with gunshot wounds who were then taken to a local hospital. One of the victims, Hampton, died from his wounds at the hospital. The surviving victim’s identity was not released because he was a minor.

Over the course of the investigation, Williamson, Rowe and Hooks were identified as suspects, according to officials.

Rowe and Hooks were already in custody on unrelated charges in Riverside County while Williamson was already in custody outside of Riverside County.

Rowe is currently being held without bail at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta on charges of robbery and assault on a person with great bodily injury, according to jail records.

Hooks is currently being held without bail at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on charges of possessing a firearm without being its registered owner.

No information could be found on jail records for Williamson’s previous charges as he was arrested outside of Riverside County.

Hooks was scheduled to appear at the Riverside Hall of Justice as early as Wednesday. Rowe is scheduled to appear at the Riverside Hall of Justice as early as Thursday. Jail records did not show Williamson’s next expected court date.

All three suspects will have murder and attempted murder added to their existing charges, officials said.
