A Temecula Valley High School student suspected of carrying a handgun on campus Monday was arrested, but no one was injured.
Deputies were notified about 12:30 p.m. that the student, whose name was not disclosed, was on the school grounds in the 31500 block of Rancho Vista Road while armed, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
“No threats were made,” a department statement said.
It was unclear who discovered the suspect and reported him, and there were no indications of why he was allegedly in possession of the firearm.
The youth was taken into custody without incident, but there was no word on whether he was booked into Southwest Juvenile Hall.
The investigation is ongoing, sheriff’s officials said.
