An Indio man was behind bars Wednesday on suspicion of committing a string of robberies at commercial businesses in Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage in September.
Jose Urbano, 38, was arrested Tuesday by the Palm Desert Station Burglary Suppression Unit in the 82000 block of Dr. Carreon Boulevard in Indio after investigators linked him to a slew of robberies committed from Sept. 10-25, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Sgt. Christopher Ternes said the suspect forced his way into the businesses and stole merchandise once inside. Ternes did not disclose why Urbano is believed to be a suspect.
The businesses targeted in the robberies were not disclosed.
Urbano was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of burglary, where he was being held on $100,000 bail.
He is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Thursday at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.
