A suspected illegal casino is closed Saturday after it was raided by police in Pomona.
Officers from the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Task Force served a search warrant at 9 p.m. Friday at 680 W. Mission Blvd. after receiving several citizen complaints and anonymous tips about suspicious activity at the property, said Cpl. Kristian Gutierrez of the Pomona Police Department.
Police discovered evidence of an illegal gambling casino and recovered an undisclosed amount of money from the location, which had fortified entrances that housed six “fish game” tables and four upright machines, Gutierrez said.
All illegal gaming devices were destroyed pursuant to the court order. It is unknown who is operating the business or leasing the property but the investigation will continue and the property owner will be notified, police said.
Anyone with information regarding illegal gambling casinos is asked to contact the Pomona Police Department at 909-620-2085. Anonymous tips can be called in to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or submitted online at lacrimestoppers.org.
