The bodies of two women and a man were found inside a Balboa Island home in Newport Beach Monday, and another man at the home was rushed to a hospital.
Officers were called at 8:23 a.m. to the home near Diamond Avenue and Bay Front Alley South, where they found the bodies, said Heather Rangel, the Newport Beach Police Department’s public information officer.
Rangel did not know the condition of the man who survived.
Lt. Keith Krallman told reporters police suspect illegal drugs were involved in the deaths.
“There are illegal drugs suspected right now, and usually illegal drugs sometimes contain fentanyl,” Krallman said.
Fentanyl has not been confirmed, but a hazardous materials team was sent to the crime scene “out of an abundance of caution” to process the evidence, Krallman said.
