Two teenage suspects are in custody Thursday following their arrests for possession of a loaded firearm in La Mirada.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriffs’ Department’s Norwalk Station responded at 7:47 p.m. Wednesday to a 911 call in the area of Woodridge Avenue and Ratliffe Street, said a Norwalk Station watch commander.
Witnesses said they saw two teenage boys throw a handgun from a black sedan they were driving in and, as deputies tried to make a traffic stop, the teenagers crashed into a parked vehicle, the watch commander said.
Deputies recovered the gun near the scene where witnesses had seen it thrown and arrested the two suspects.
No injuries were reported.
