A convicted felon from Desert Hot Springs was behind bars Wednesday after allegedly being caught with a homemade zip gun, five firearms and a half-pound of narcotics in Cabazon.
Jeremy Abshear, 46, was arrested Tuesday after being pulled over by Riverside County sheriff’s deputies in the 50000 block of Main Street for a vehicle code violation, according to Sgt. Jonathan Bodnar.
A probation search of Abshear’s vehicle yielded a half-pound of narcotics, five firearms and a homemade zip gun, according to Bodnar.
The nature of the narcotics was not identified by the sheriff’s department.
Abshear was subsequently booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on $100,000 bail for suspicion of possessing controlled substances with a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Jail records did not indicate when Abshear will make his initial court appearance.
