A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle early Friday in Santa Ana.
The fatal collision occurred about 1:20 a.m. in the 800 block of South Fairview Street, according to the Santa Ana Police Department. The man was declared dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a Hispanic man, believed to be in his 40s, was in the northbound lanes of Fairview mid-block between McFadden Avenue and Highland Street and was struck by what police described as an early 2000s Mercedes-Benz sedan, a late-model Hyundai and a Toyota Corolla.
Only the Corolla driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The department’s Collision Investigations Unit was working to determine the cause of the collision and the identity of the hit-and-run drivers.
The victim’s identity was withheld pending notification of his family.
