A suspect wanted for recklessly driving a bread truck led deputies on a pursuit through the Compton area Thursday evening, continuing to drive the damaged vehicle after spike strips were deployed and backing up toward deputies in vehicles behind her before her eventual arrest.

The pursuit began a little after 9 p.m. in the area of Alondra Boulevard and Wilmington Avenue in Compton, according to KCAL9.

The Nature’s Harvest box truck could be seen stopping at traffic lights and in parking lots in Long Beach and Compton and starting up again even after spike strips destroyed at least two tires.

The driver also struck trees and drove on the sidewalk at various times during the pursuit.

The suspect stopped the vehicle near Alondra and Atlantic Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. and attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly swarmed by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies and taken into custody.

No further details were immediately available.
