A 33-year-old motorist was killed in a rollover crash that occurred on a rain-slick street in Corona, authorities said Wednesday.

John Glenn Jr. of Corona was fatally injured about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday on Via Pacifica at Mahogany Street, according to the Corona Police Department.

Glenn was headed north on Via Pacifica in his Nissan Titan pickup and “lost control, leaving the roadway,” Corona police Cpl. Tobias Kouroubacalis told City News Service.

The police spokesman said the Nissan slammed into a utility pole and rolled over.

“The victim was not wearing any type of safety restraint,” Kouroubacalis said, adding that the roadway was wet from downpours that afternoon, but it was not raining at the time.

Corona Fire Department paramedics reached the location within a few minutes and pronounced Glenn dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved.

Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be factors in the rollover crash.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information was asked to contact the police department at 951-736-2330.
