Two men were charged Tuesday with the gang-related shooting and attempted robbery of another man in Anaheim.

Michael Duprez, 18, and Bruce Lee Aguilar, 26, were charged in connection with the shooting of a man in his 50s about 11 p.m. Jan. 19 at Brookhurst Street and La Palma Avenue, according to Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Shane Carringer.

The defendants were acquainted with the victim, whose name was not released. The victim sustained a gunshot wound that was not considered life-threatening, Carringer said.

Duprez was charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery and participating in gang activity, all felonies. He also faces sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a firearm, discharge of a firearm, discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury or death, gang activity and inflicting great bodily injury on the victim.

Aguilar was charged with attempted robbery, participating in gang activity and being an accessory after the fact, all felonies, with a sentencing enhancement for gang activity.

Aguilar pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Tuesday and was ordered to return to court for a pretrial hearing in the North Justice Center in Fullerton on Feb. 15. Duprez is scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 17 in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana.
