A 17-year-old boy was behind bars Monday for allegedly fatally striking a pedestrian in Desert Hot Springs and driving away from the scene.
According to the Desert Hot Springs Police Department, the pedestrian was struck around 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Palm and Ironwood drives.
The pedestrian, described only as a man, died at the scene, according to Doria Wilms of the city of Desert Hot Springs.
Officers eventually identified the alleged driver, who was arrested around 8:45 a.m. Sunday and booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run causing death.
The driver’s name was not released due to his age. The name of the man who died was withheld pending notification of relatives.
