A woman was struck and killed by a Metrolink commuter train on the east end of Riverside, but few details were available Monday.
The fatality occurred about 7 p.m. Sunday near the train crossing at Chicago and Marlborough avenues, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which was coordinating with the Riverside Police Department in the investigation.
LACSD handles security on Metrolink trains.
The victim’s identity was not immediately released, and it was unclear why she was on the tracks.
Riverside Fire Department personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.
Train traffic was delayed several hours because of the ensuing investigation.
